On Thursday, January 10, 2013 at approximately 8:30 am, the North Vancouver RCMP responded to a hold up alarm at a bank in the 1700 block of Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver. The hooded lone robber approached a teller and demanded money. No weapon was produced but the suspect did simulate that he was in possession of one. The culprit allegedly robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured in the robbery.
The suspect was last seen running out of the bank, eastbound across Lonsdale Avenue. The North Vancouver RCMP made immediate extensive patrols of the area. Police viewed security video footage at the bank, interviewed witnesses and in spite of the closely drawn hood, were able to positively identify a North Vancouver male as the alleged culprit responsible for the robbery.
At approximately 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2013 the North Vancouver RCMP arrested Randy Wanek in North Vancouver for robbery. The 42 year old suspect has no fixed address and is known to police. Wanek remains in police custody pending his court appearance on January 17, 2013 on charges of robbery and wearing a disguise with intent to commit a robbery.
