AiMHi Joins Partnership with Bike Registration App

Prince George

One of the many benefits of the 529 Garage bicycle registration, reporting and recovery network, is that when police recover a registered bike, officers will almost always be able to get it back to its rightful owner.

When one of the hundreds of recovered and unregistered bikes cannot be reunited with its owner, it goes to the not-for-profit organization, AiMHi. AiMHi is the Prince George Association of Community Living located on Kerry Street in Prince George.

AiMHi staff and clients clean-up and fix the bikes so that they can be re-sold to the public through their Saturday bike sales from late May to early September.

This year, AiMHi has joined forces with the Prince George RCMP and registered all their bikes on 529 Garage before they sell them. This means that everyone that purchases a used bike from AiMHi from this summer and for years to come, will automatically have the bike registered. Over 200 bikes have been registered by AiMHi this year. This partnership will help to return more stolen bikes to their rightful owners, it will help to combat the increasing amount of bike thefts in this community and will help to #EndBikeTheft.

This is a fantastic boost to the Detachment’s bike theft prevention program says Cpl. Craig Douglass, coordinator of the program in Prince George. AiMHi is showing their commitment to this community, their clients and to bicycle owners. Having AiMHi as a partner means that more recovered bikes will be reunited with their owners.

The last bike sale of the season will be happening this Saturday, September 9th from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at their Kerry Street location behind École Lac des Bois Elementary.
